'Walaay' is a Gomeroi word meaning 'camp'. This artwork represents the diversity of Aboriginal Australia, and people coming together around a campsite to share and celebrate culture.

The layered circles in the middle represents a campsite, with each layer reminding us of generations who have come before us, and who have paved the way for us to continue to learn and practice Aboriginal culture, traditions and knowledges.
The 2 lines on either side of the campsite serve a dual purpose - it creates a depiction of the Aboriginal flag within the whole artwork, and also symbolises flowing water through the campsite and connecting this site to other communities.

Around the campsite are symbols of men and women, who have all come together around the campsite as a central place to yarn, build relationships, sing and dance and enjoy time together.

The coloured clustered background represents the hundreds of rich and diverse nation groups within Aboriginal Australia.
